The short version: The current version of Verdura has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers of its own. Your plants, care logs, photos and settings stay on your device, and the app sends nothing to us. The only thing it fetches from the internet is its typeface, from Google Fonts. The older iPhone version on the App Store today may also contain Google's advertising SDK; see section 5.
1. Who We Are
Verdura is published by Heldig Lab ("we", "us"), the studio of Yaroslav Shevchenko. The App Store shows Yaroslav Shevchenko as the seller, and Google Play shows the developer as Heldig. We are responsible for Verdura and this policy and, under EU and UK data protection law, are the "controller" of the limited data described here. You can reach us at yaroslav@heldiglab.com.
2. Information We Collect
We do not collect any information through Verdura. There is no sign-up, login or account of any kind. The current version does not send your plants, care logs, photos, settings or any device identifier to us or to any analytics, advertising or tracking service; for the iPhone version on the App Store today, see section 5. Verdura does not use your location: you choose your hemisphere for seasonal care yourself.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
Everything you enter is stored only in Verdura's own storage on your device. This includes:
- Plants: name, species, photo, watering dates, light, humidity, pot size, soil and your schedule settings
- Care logs: what you did (watering, fertilizing, misting, repotting, pruning, pest treatment or a note), when you did it and any note you add
- Photos you take or choose for your plants
- Settings: language, theme, units, hemisphere, reminder time and style, snoozed reminders, default light and humidity, and how your plant list is shown
Verdura also keeps its built-in plant species database and the downloaded typeface on your device. We cannot see any of this data. The app does not add encryption of its own; your data is protected by your device's security, such as its passcode. If you use device backups (iCloud or computer backups on iPhone, Google backup on Android), your phone may include Verdura's data in them. Apple and Google handle those backups under their own privacy policies.
4. Third-Party Services
The current version of Verdura contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, attribution or tracking SDKs. Two outside services are involved:
- Google Fonts — Verdura shows text in the Inter typeface, which it downloads from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com) the first time it needs it and then keeps on your device. Like any internet request, this shows Google your device's IP address. The request contains none of your plant data. See Google's privacy policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — sell the app and process your payment (see section 10).
5. The iPhone Version on the App Store Today
This policy describes the current version of Verdura, which is the one on Google Play. The iPhone version on the App Store, 1.2.52, was built in April 2026. Verdura's code from that time started Google's Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) when the app opened, so that version may contain it. We never set up ad units for Verdura in AdMob, so it is not set up to show ads. If the SDK is included, it may send Google information about your device, including a device identifier and its IP address, along with crash, performance and usage data, and it may request ads that are never shown. Google describes this data in its Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure and handles it under Google's privacy policy. We do not receive any of it.
6. Permissions
- Camera — only when you choose to take a photo of a plant.
- Photos — to let you choose a photo of a plant with your phone's photo picker. Verdura only uses the photos you pick.
- Notifications — to send care reminders (see section 7).
- On Android, Verdura can also schedule reminders at exact times, restore them after your phone restarts, and use the internet to download its typeface.
Verdura does not access your location, contacts or microphone.
7. Reminders and Notifications
If you turn on reminders, Verdura schedules local notifications on your device. They are created on the device itself: there is no notification server and no push token. A reminder can show a plant's name on your lock screen. You can turn reminders off in Verdura's settings or in your phone's settings.
8. Export, Import and Feedback
- Export as JSON or CSV creates a file on your device and opens your phone's share sheet. You decide where the file goes.
- Import from JSON reads only the backup file you pick.
- Send feedback opens your email app with a message to heldig.lab@pm.me. We receive only what you choose to send.
9. Deleting Your Data
Deleting a plant removes it, its care history and its reminder. Settings → Reset all data deletes all plants and care logs; it keeps your settings, and reminders that were already scheduled can still appear. Photos you added stay in Verdura's storage on your device, even after you delete the plant or reset, until you delete the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device, apart from any copies in your device backups.
10. Purchases
Verdura is a paid app with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no ads. The purchase is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive, store or have access to any payment information; the store's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
11. Legal Basis and Your Rights
Verdura sends us no data, so we hold none about you unless you email us. Under EU and UK data protection law, the legal bases for the limited processing in this policy are:
- Typeface download (section 4): our legitimate interest in showing the app's text in its intended typeface. Google may process the request, including your IP address, outside your country, for example in the United States.
- Emails you send us: our legitimate interest in answering you. We use your email address and message only to reply.
If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to its use by emailing us at the address in section 14. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Children's Privacy
Verdura is not directed at children under 13. Because the app sends us no information, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
13. Changes to This Policy
If we change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
